Natural & Honest
Becoming a new mom can feel overwhelming. You might feel like you’re not doing it right, but the truth is you’re doing a beautiful job. Your family sees it and now it’s time for you to see it too.
Photographing your growing family in your home is the most honest and thoughtful way to tell your story. As a mom, some of my favorite photos are the ones with my babies in my arms. It brings me right back to that time when they still fit in that small space. Which is why I believe that you should not only have photos of your baby but with your baby.
Much of your newborn photography session is spent doing just that - holding and connecting with your baby. And when they’re sleeping or in a quiet-alert stage, I’ll swaddle them in one of my neutral blankets and place them in the best light. For my Westchester newborn photo sessions, I prefer natural, baby-led posing rather than using props or placing baby inauthentically. The result is natural, timeless photos that shine a light on the beautiful world you’re creating inside your home. With a calm and thoughtful approach, I offer newborn photo sessions throughout Westchester and beyond.

Working with Nicole was the most grace-filled experience for this first time mama! She fully prepared us for the time together beforehand with very helpful tips! The morning of was hectic for us - a fussy baby, excited grandparents, and working-from-home parents all coming together. Nicole met us at our home for an in-home session, bringing with her her equipment, but also her peaceful, kind, bright presence. She was able to beautifully direct us and captured joy-filled scenes that our families will treasure forever.

WHERE & WHEN DO newborn SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
All newborn photography sessions take place mid-morning on weekdays in your home. The timing is intentional and based on lighting, my aesthetic that has likely already resonated with you and my experience of working with babies. I know it can be a little worrisome planning around everybody’s schedules and moods but I have tips to guide you through this!

DO YOU USE PROPS?
I prefer not to work with props as they take away from the most important subject, you and your newborn baby! I love photographing the nursery and I have neutral swaddle blankets for baby.

WHAT IF MY NEWBORN IS FUSSY?
I’ve loved photographing new parents with their newborns for 10 years now. And as a mom of two, I’ve learned so much in patience in flexibility. Your session will likely only take one hour, but we plan for two in case baby needs to be changed, soothed or fed. I also always offer breaks for mom as we want you feeling light and stress-free. The session is completely catered around you and your baby’s needs and mood.

WHAT IF MY HOME DOESN’T FEEL “PICTURE READY”?
Please don’t worry that your house has to be Pinterest-worthy. I’m not seeking perfection - I’m here for the beauty in the mundane, the magic in the ordinary. As long as you have at least one window with natural light and a house full of love, we will create beautiful photos together.

What do we wear for our newborn session?
After booking your session, I'll send you a guide that includes wardrobe suggestions for you, baby and the rest of the family. A general rule of thumb is to choose one neutral outfit for baby. We'll change baby once into one of my swaddles - anything more than that can be too overwhelming for newborns (and mamas!)

What about older siblings?
Siblings, dads and even pets if welcomed are always included in newborn sessions. I go with the flow of the family but typically do photos that include dad, siblings and pets first so they can run off while we spend time on mom and baby.

WHAT MAKES YOUR WORK DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?
I strive to capture the love and authenticity of you in an honest, timeless and organic manner. With a non-invasive approach, I work to make sure you are comfortable and capture you connecting with your baby. I specialize in at-home lifestyle photography in Westchester and beyond, and understand how to find the best natural light in your house. Unlike some photographers, I value both traditional (think, smiling at the camera) and documentary (think, interacting with each other) photography.
