I am so super excited to share this special two-part blog post with you today!! Last summer, my friend Jacob pulled off an epic wedding proposal to one of my closest and well-loved friends, Courtney. His planning had been in the works for a while with the help of some family and friends, but he waited until about a week before the proposal to announce it to the whole gang to ensure nobody would slip the secret to his bride-to-be! The proposal started with “tricking” her into meeting him and friends for drinks, but when she got to where she was told to go, she instead found a driver waiting for her and inside the car was an iPod with a playlist of their songs plus the first of many clues written on cards from Jacob. Her first clue would bring her to her favorite NYC boutique where her best friend since they were little girls was waiting for her. Jacob had arranged for the shop to allow Courtney to pick out any outfit she wanted! Her next clue would lead the two girls to another best friend of Courtney’s who had been there the night Jacob and Courtney met, and the three ladies were taken to a nail salon. Again, Courtney’s soon-to-be fiancĂ© had arranged for not just her, but all the girls to have manicures! Afterwards, her ladies sent her off with her driver and the last clue that would bring Courtney to a park in Battery City where the couple had had one of their first dates. There waiting for her, was Jacob {insert cry face here}. He was standing by the water on this beautiful day, with a beautiful ring, and the most beautiful question he would ever ask her {yup, I’m crying again!}. She of course said “Yes!” and they eventually sat down to a picnic of champagne and snacks that Jacob had brought. After some time just enjoying each other and the moment, I snuck out from my hiding spot and surprised the amazing, happy couple!! I snapped a couple quick photos then took off telling Courtney I’d see her next week… little did she know that the surprises were still coming! Back at their apartment, the couple’s family and friends including Courtney’s sister who had flown in from LA with her gorilla suit because well, why wouldn’t she come with a gorilla suit, were all waiting on the rooftop for the grand finale of surprises. A short while later, they returned to what Courtney thought was going to be a quick rooftop drink before heading to dinner, but what she found was all these people they loved in one place… With many toasts, smiles, hugs and tears, we all celebrated their love and engagement into the wee hours of morning….
The second part of this story is the couple’s adorable engagement shoot at a NYC bowling alley. Why a bowling alley? Well, these cool kids just happened to meet at a concert in one of the coolest bowling alley’s in NYC, Brooklyn Bowl, on what happened to be Valentine’s Day, and along with her friend that I mentioned above guess who else just happened to be with them?! Yours truly! These two are never one to pass up a good theme party. In fact, they’re usually the ones throwing a theme party or coming up with a reason to wear costumes. So as you can see, it was only fitting that they get decked out in vintage threads and hit the lanes. It’s just how they roll… You might say that it’s right up their alley… Ohh get your mind out of the gutter… I made that one up in my spare time… Get it? Anyone? Is this thing on?! Enough of my corny attempts at jokes, enjoy every last bit of these photos!!
