I’ve been wanting to share this boudoir maternity session for a long time now, like since last May! And it’s not that I haven’t had the time or that I haven’t loved these photos. In fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth because ummm look at her! Also, this might be some of my proudest work. When I photographed Tanya, it was the first session I had done since having my baby. I was excited to get behind the camera, nervous about leaving the baby for a few hours, and raging with postpartum hormones that left me gleefully happy one moment and in a pool of tears the next. I believe time and the universe worked together so that I could capture this glowing mama at such a vulnerable and raw time for both of us. The reason I haven’t shared these photos, or many of my portrait sessions for that matter, is that I always seem to struggle with finding the right words to tell their story. And I’ve realized that it’s because they’re not my stories, they’re your stories. While it’s always a privilege to me to photograph families, I’m realizing more and more that the journey to motherhood and fatherhood is so incredibly unique and that my role in telling your stories lies in the photos only. The words are yours to tell. So, moving forward I’d love to start working with my clients on matching their words to my photos so that together we can tell the story of your life. And for now, I hope the photos of this stunning new mom give you a glimpse into her beautiful life.
