Alanna and Dominic’s wedding last October was one I still become emotional about when I look through their photos. I had first met them about one year earlier and when they told me about their plans to have their wedding on the bride’s family property, my heart skipped a beat. To me, there is something so intimate and soulful about getting married in your home, the place you grew up in, the house that your parents built with their own hands 30 years earlier, where all of your siblings were born and one of your sisters also got married. After all, home is where the heart is… On their wedding day, while surrounded by the beauty of their property, the Catskill region, and their family’s warm hearts, I couldn’t help but picture my family in the same spot in about 30 more years. Because if you know me, you know that my husband and I dream of owning a small farm in New Paltz and raising our children there. And because Alanna is so sweet and full of life, so in love with Dominic, and because of the way she cried in her Dad’s arms, I of course thought “maybe that will be my little girl one day”! From beginning to end, this day was beautiful in it’s details and even more beautiful in it’s meaning. I wish these two and their loving families years of love and joy in their home!
