I’ve been loving all of the 2013 memories that friends and family have been sharing on social media through videos, photos and words and now I’m feeling very inspired to reflect on what was one of the best years of my life. So I’ve compiled a list of my 13 favorite memories followed by some photos from my last shoot of the year with the sweet-as-can be Branine Family in Evergreen, Colorado. But before I get to that, I can’t think of a better way to express hopes for friends family and fans than this quote from Neil Gaiman {picked up from a friend’s Facebook post}:
I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you’ll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you’ll make something that didn’t exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.
My Top 13 Memories of 2013
1. Hands-down #1, marrying my dream man.
2. Watching my brother marry the love of his life, which in turn gave me my first official sister.
3. Welcoming my youngest brother to Colorado.
4. Spending 2 weeks on the magical islands of Kauai and Maui.
5. Seeing my uncle stand by his son’s side as best man when he married his beautiful-inside-and-out wife.
6. Feeling the love of our family grow even bigger with my cousin’s engagement to her southern gentlemen, another new sister’s engagement to one of the kindest guys I know {who will now be my THIRD brother named Mike}, and yet another new sister and brother’s announcement that they’re having their third baby!
7. Showing friends and family what our life is like in CO as so many of them graciously visited us throughout the year.
8. Now my biggest wish for all my incredible girlfriends is that they love and be loved, but seeing one friend in particular meet someone this year who treats her the way she’s always deserved completely lights up my heart.
9. Checking boxes off my list of goals in the “One-Page Business Plan” I put together back in 2012 {I have to give a plug for the book that finally struck the match to the fire inside me to start this business: The $100 Startup}
10. Continuing to feel invigorated through the stories of the families I meet and photograph.
11. My best Red Rocks ampitheatre season since I’ve moved to CO – Yoga on the Rocks, Movies on the Rocks, and five foot-stomping soul-filling concerts including going backstage for Warren Haynes and my Uncle Lincoln’s Grateful Dead tour stop with none other than the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
12. After about 15 years, starting to eat meat again.
13. Turning 30! {seriously almost forgot that one, I guess I am getting old…}
*Cheers to another beautiful year!*
